WHERE TO GO

Riseley is ideally situated on the edge of four shires.  Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire.  It is a picturesque village of approximately 500 houses.  Dating from the 9th Century 'a clearing in the brushwood' .  There are two schools, a village hall, the village shop, an art gallery, a police station, residential home, a playing field with swings and a stream running the length of the village.

In and around Riseley - Sporting Targets shooting range, Sackville Flying Club, the Fox and Hounds, the Five Bells, many footpaths and bridleways.

A 5 minute drive takes you to Palmersport racetrack at Thurleigh airfield.

Milton Ernest Garden Centre is a 5 minute drive.

The College Equestrian Centre at Keysoe is also 5 minutes away. 

Just off the A6 at Clapham is the Glen Miller Museum.  Glen Miller's last recorded  flight was from Thurleigh Airfield.

At Thurleigh is Monster Events and Thurleigh Fruit Farm with lots of childrens activities, fruit picking and animals.  The refurbished Old Plough Inn is in the next village - Bolnhurst.

The Butterfly Farm at Wilden is a short drive from Bolnhurst.

Bedford is just 9 miles away via the A6.  Beautiful river walks, shopping centre, swimming pools, numerous sports facilities, a cinema complex, bowling alley, open air market, museum, art gallery, restaurants, parks etc etc.

Olney with its lovely shops, antiques and restaurants is 15 miles away.

Milton Keynes is 20 miles away.

The M1 can be joined at Northampton and Woburn.

Nearest train stations are at Bedford and St Neots.

Huntingdon and Godmanchester are a 20 minute drive.

Santapod and Poddington Garden Centre are just off the A6 on route to Rushden which is a 10 minute drive.   Rushden has a swimming pool, numerous shops, a railway museum and a sports centre. 

Next to Rushden is Higham Ferrars and the Rushden and Diamonds Football Club. 

Wickstead Park at Kettering is about 20 minutes away. 

Northampton and Cambridge are both approximately 30 miles away.

Little Staughton and Great Staughton are nearby.  St Neots is a 15 minute drive.

Trout fishing, cycle hire, sailing and windsurfing are only 9 miles away at Grafham Water.  You can cycle or walk around the reservoir stopping off at the Lakeside cafe, the Harbour View Restaurant and the Wheatsheaf in Perry.  Grafham Water Sailing Club and Jonti Sailboard shop cater for sailors of all abilities. 

There are many golf courses in this area all within a 15 minute drive.

Woburn Abbey Safari Park is just the other side of Bedford.

London is 65 miles from here.
